Enlightening Brief Commentaries from a Biblical Perspective
1. Why the True God does not recommend Vegetarianism?
God’s food commands for the world before Noah’s flood!
Genesis 1 v 29,30
- 29 And God said, Behold, I have given you every herb bearing seed, which is upon the face of all the earth, and every tree, in the which is the fruit of a tree yielding seed; to you it shall be for meat.
- 30 And to every beast of the earth, and to every fowl of the air, and to every thing that creepeth upon the earth, wherein there is life, I have given every green herb for meat: and it was so.
God’s food commands for the world after the flood of Noah!
Genesis 9 v 1-4
- 1 And God blessed Noah and his sons, and said unto them, Be fruitful, and multiply, and replenish the earth.
- 2 And the fear of you and the dread of you shall be upon every beast of the earth, and upon every fowl of the air, upon all that moveth upon the earth, and upon all the fishes of the sea; into your hand are they delivered.
- 3 Every moving thing that liveth shall be meat for you; even as the green herb have I given you all things.
- 4 But flesh with the life thereof, which is the blood thereof, shall ye not eat.
Why the change in God’s food commands for the world before and after Noah’s flood?
The world after the flood had greatly changed! Before the flood vegetarianism was normal. The original world was designed with a greenhouse canopy (Genesis 1 v 6,7) around the world. The world before the flood had specially designed soil conditions which produced high quality fruits, grains and vegetables. This high quality food was adequate for the humans and even dinosaurs living in the world before the flood. The flood caused the greenhouse canopy to collapse. The flood destroyed the special soil systems. The flood destroyed the environment so the quality of fruit and vegetables was significantly reduced. Without the greenhouse canopy, the earth was subject to increased cosmic radiation. The cosmic radiation caused increased cancer rates in humans. This destruction of the environment caused a large reduction of the lifespan of humans.
“God in his wisdom in Genesis 9 v 3 directed humans to eat animals and fish to give them enough protein to keep their bodies strong. So in our current era vegetarianism is not normal nor recommended!”
Vegetarianism does have some benefits!
Bible principles – eat small amounts of fresh food, eat a variety of different foods, exercise control over your appetite, develop a regular exercise program!
Phillipians 4 v 5
- 5 Let your moderation be known unto all men.
In Western culture there are many types of food available which are not healthy. Much of this food is deep fried in oil and has a high salt content. Beverages often are high in sugar or caffeine. Eating too much of these types of food and beverages is not healthy. This food diet can lead to unwanted weight gain, obesity and many health problems with the accompanying negative feelings and outlook on life. A balanced diet with more fruits, nuts, whole grains, vegetables and natural oils plus dairy, animal and fish protein can show a great improvement in health both physically and mentally. If you include a regular exercise program you can keep a healthy body weight.
New Age Teachings Say Vegetarianism Causes Higher Spirituality!
Some New Age teachers say that vegetarianism causes a higher form of spirituality (higher vibrations). They teach that consuming dairy and animal products produce a lower form of spirituality (lower vibrations). If you are trying to develop yourself to a higher form of spirituality or raise your consciousness, or evolve as a person or make self-improvement gains or reach Nirvana then vegetarianism is allegedly a helpful tool!
However the true God of the Bible would say no to these New Age teachings. He would say that you need to be spiritually born again on the inside through repentance and faith in the work on the Cross! The true God of the Bible says that you cannot reform or improve the old fallen nature that we have! The true God of the Bible says the food you eat does not affect your spirituality. He says that we are defiled by what comes out of our hearts. God says we need a new heart which can be received at the Cross!
Matthew 15 v 16-20
- 16 And Jesus said, Are ye also yet without understanding?
- 17 Do not ye yet understand, that whatsoever entereth in at the mouth goeth into the belly, and is cast out into the draught?
- 18 But those things which proceed out of the mouth come forth from the heart; and they defile the man.
- 19 For out of the heart proceed evil thoughts, murders, adulteries, fornications, thefts, false witness, blasphemies:
- 20 These are the things which defile a man: but to eat with unwashen hands defileth not a man.
2. The New Age Teachers say that God is Energy we are all just Energy? True? Well No!
When we die we all return to that great pool of energy some call God? If you believe in reincarnation then you can return from that pool of energy and manifest as a living creature of some kind? Does the true God allow reincarnation? New Agers and Hindu’s say yes, but the true God says no, he does not allow humans to come back for another go around.
Read Hebrews 9 v 27
- 27 And as it is appointed unto men once to die, but after this the judgment:
This energy idea sounds pretty good on one level of thinking. There is some truth to this idea but a crucial part is missing. Yes, the physical body we inhabit is made up of atoms or energy just like everything else in the physical universe. Our bodies are subject to decay and dissolution just like other parts of the physical universe. However, the error lies in the “makeup” of humans. God declares in his Word that we are an eternal spirit and soul which he placed in a physical body. Our eternal spirit and soul is not energy and never dies or dissolves.
So the question becomes, what happens to our immaterial soul and spirit when our body dies? God’s Word says our eternal soul and spirit lives in a middle state (one group in the presence of Jesus and one group held for final judgement) until the series of future resurrections that God has promised. What resurrection you are part of is based on your response to the cross of Jesus. Our default position is that we are rebellious sinners, separated from God by our wicked works, and on the way to the lake of fire prepared for the devil and his angels. We cannot go to heaven in the state that we are born into. That is where our response to Jesus can open the door through the new spiritual birth and the legal pardon granted at the Cross.
So there are 2 resurrections, one is the resurrection of the pardoned, and the other is the resurrection of the condemned. Real spiritual truth is found only in the Word of God, the Bible. The true God did not write any other books but his adversary did!
3. Did Jesus claim that He was the true Creator God and the promised Messiah? Well, actually, yes he did!
Some Old Testament background on the Trinity and the Name that God gave for himself to Moses
Genesis 1 v 26, 27 (Trinity)
- 26 And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.
- 27 So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.
God uses the term “let us make man in our image” because he is a trinity of three persons but yet in essence one! He gave man an eternal soul and spirit with a physical body. He gave man the ability to reason and understand good and evil.
Exodus 3 v 13-15 (God reveals His name to Moses)
- 13 And Moses said unto God, Behold, when I come unto the children of Israel, and shall say unto them, The God of your fathers hath sent me unto you; and they shall say to me, hat is his name? what shall I say unto them?
- 14 And God said unto Moses, I AM THAT I AM: and he said, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, I AM hath sent me unto you.
- 15 And God said moreover unto Moses, Thus shalt thou say unto the children of Israel, The LORD God of your fathers, the God of Abraham, the God of Isaac, and the God of Jacob, hath sent me unto you: this is my name for ever, and this is my memorial unto all generations.
The Ministry of Jesus in the New Testament
John 8 v 56-59 (Jesus speaking with the Pharisees)
- 56 Your father Abraham rejoiced to see my day: and he saw it, and was glad.
- 57 Then said the Jews unto him, Thou art not yet fifty years old, and hast thou seen Abraham?
- 58 Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.
- 59 Then took they up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.
John 10 v 30-33 (Jesus confronted by the Pharisees after he gave sight to a person blind from birth on the Sabbath)
- 30 (Jesus speakinng) I and my Father are one. (equal)
- 31 Then the Jews took up stones again to stone him.
- 32 Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me?
- 33 The Jews answered him, saying, For a good work we stone thee not; but for blasphemy; and because that thou, being a man, makest thyself God.
John 1 v 1-3, 10, 14 (the second person of the Trinity took on a human body)
- 1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
- 2 The same was in the beginning with God.
- 3 All things were made by him; and without him was not anything made that was made.
- 10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not.
- 14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
John 4 v 7-26 (Jesus reveals that He is the Messiah to the Samaritan women)
- 7 There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink.
- 8 (For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy meat.)
- 9 Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.
- 10 Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.
- 11 The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water?
- 12 Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle?
- 13 Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:
- 14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
- 15 The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw.
- 16 Jesus saith unto her, Go, call thy husband, and come hither.
- 17 The woman answered and said, I have no husband. Jesus said unto her, Thou hast well said, I have no husband:
- 18 For thou hast had five husbands; and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband: in that saidst thou truly.
- 19 The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet.
- 20 Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.
- 21 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father.
- 22 Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.
- 23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
- 24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
- 25 The woman saith unto him, “I know that Messiah cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things”.
- 26 Jesus saith unto her, “I that speak unto thee am he”.
Colossians 1 v 13-18 (Jesus both creator, saviour and head of the Church?)
- 13 Who hath delivered us from the power of darkness, and hath translated us into the kingdom of his dear Son:
- 14 In whom we have redemption through his blood, even the forgiveness of sins:
- 15 Who is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of every creature:
- 16 For by him were all things created, that are in heaven, and that are in earth, visible and invisible, whether they be thrones, or dominions, or principalities, or powers: all things were created by him, and for him:
- 17 And he is before all things, and by him all things consist (are held together).
- 18 And he is the head of the body, the church: who is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead; that in all things he might have the preeminence.
